Should I Have a Real Estate Website and a Real Estate Blog?

Should I Have a Real Estate Website and a Real Estate Blog?

To answer the question directly – YES, real estate agents should have real estate websites and real estate blogs, but they don’t have to be separate from each other.

Of course every real estate agent should have a website, but surprisingly few have blogs.  Real estate blogs will inevitably be deemed as crucial as a regular website.  In fact, the ideal real estate website for today’s market is a blog.  The problem with using most blogs as a primary real estate website though is that they don’t fit the mold of what most real estate agents are looking for in a website. Our websites fit the mold perfectly as they leverage the Web 2.0 benefits of blogs while maintaining a real estate website look and feel.

Tanning Woodbury MN Sunshine Tanning

Here’s the post from Perfect Tan where Chris discusses Sunshine Tanning going out of business:

Attention Sunshine Tanning Woodbury, MN Customers

I am sorry to hear of the closing of this tanning salon. For the customers I will be trying to get a hold of the owner of this tanning salon and see if he will provide me with the client list and customers current packages. If he supplies these lists to me, here’s what I’ll do. I will honor any packages purchased from Sunshine Tanning, if the same is purchased from me. So for example if you had a month unlimited there, purchase a month unlimited from me and I will honor both. I should say that this is at my discretion, and can stop this at any time. I have been in Business for over 5 years and business is strong here, I provide a nice atmosphere, clean salon and great beds and tanning bulbs. This location was remodeled last year with new beds and as I type this I am in the middle of putting brand new tanning lamps in my lay down medium pressure lamps. The stand up tanning booths have less than 100 hours and my level two beds are being re lamped Monday. Not many salons are upgrading their lamps in this tough economic climate, I am! Please visit me at 2097 Old Hudson Rd. Maplewood MN 55119. Mention this ad for a Buy one get one on any session. Each Perfect Tan is independently owned, only my location is providing this service., please support me and I will be there for you.

Thanks,
Chris 651-731-1546

Google Quickly Fixes Buzz

Not only has Google reached 9 million comments & posts in the first 2 days, they’ve also listened to their users and made significant improvements already.

1. More visible option to not show followers/people you follow on your public profil

2. Ability to block anyone who starts following you

3. More clarity on which of your followers/people you follow can appear on your public profile

I expect Google to be great at launching products, but really – this quick?

I also tried following Pete Cashmore from Mashable.com and had to unfollow him already.  Try it yourself and you’ll see what I mean.  He already has over 12,000 followers and people are commenting like mad on his posts.  This highlighted some more problems that Google needs to address.  You can read Pete’s list here.

Those Weird People They Keep In The Water

After my Google Docs Rocks post a few days ago, I had a conversation with Donell Frank that led to her commenting:

Pretty soon we will have a contact lens and we will “see” our desktop, and we will have a chip the size of a rice grain injected into our fingers that allows us to pick up and move our files we see on our contact lens, like that thing on that one movie with Tom Cruise and those weird people they kept in the water that could see the future

We’re not there yet, but this is a step in the right direction.  Just ran across it on ma.tt mullenweg’s blog – pretty slick. I’m excited about it.

Wonder if Apple’s announcement is going to be similar…

Google Docs Rocks! even more now…

Google Docs has been rolling out the ability to upload, store and organize ANY type of file recently.

It was an awesome service that allowed you to upload and convert .doc, .xls & .ppt files (MS Word, MS Excel & MS PowerPoint).  From there, you could access them from any computer as long as you were logged into Gmail (or your Google account) and share them or collaborate with friends.

It was always a drag not being able to upload .pdf’s and other types of files but things have changed.  Upload a .pdf and when you click on it, the Gmail .pdf viewer opens the file for you – pretty slick.

They also recently added the ability to share entire folders. Iit’s worth a look. Head over to https://docs.google.com/ and check it out.

Manage Photos of Friends and Family

Google released Picasa 3.5 a couple of weeks ago and it’s got my vote. It basically allows you to tag photos similar to the way photos can be tagged on Facebook.

They’ve got all kinds of cool little features built in to it. Picasa will scan all of your photos and look for matches to names you’ve already assigned Read More »

Open For Questions

Just noticed the link on Google’s home page to the President’s website – whitehouse.gov.  I can’t say I’m convinced that President Obama is the solution for our country, but I’ve been baffled for years about why more politicians don’t leverage the internet to connect with their constituents better. Big Brother Google – Out of the Closet

They’re not quite there yet, but this is a good indication of what so many geeks have been concered about with Google.  I’m a huge fan of Google – I use Google services on a daily basis as a routine part of my day-to-day life every day: Gmail from Google, Google Calendars, Google Maps, Google Chat, Google Spreadsheets Read More »

Search Engine Sitemap Test

I just added another “website” under jasonmassengale.com at jasonmassengale.com/real_estate_websites.

Before I submitted the sitemap to Google, they were indexing 94 pages on jasonmassengale.com.

I’m just testing it to see how long it takes to pick up the other pages and include them – or if it will at all. The new sitemap I submitted is in a different location and I’m not sure if Google will like it. Read More »
