To answer the question directly – YES, real estate agents should have real estate websites and real estate blogs, but they don’t have to be separate from each other.

Of course every real estate agent should have a website, but surprisingly few have blogs. Real estate blogs will inevitably be deemed as crucial as a regular website. In fact, the ideal real estate website for today’s market is a blog. The problem with using most blogs as a primary real estate website though is that they don’t fit the mold of what most real estate agents are looking for in a website. Our websites fit the mold perfectly as they leverage the Web 2.0 benefits of blogs while maintaining a real estate website look and feel.

Pretty soon we will have a contact lens and we will “see” our desktop, and we will have a chip the size of a rice grain injected into our fingers that allows us to pick up and move our files we see on our contact lens, like that thing on that one movie with Tom Cruise and those weird people they kept in the water that could see the future

We’re not there yet, but this is a step in the right direction. Just ran across it on ma.tt mullenweg’s blog – pretty slick. I’m excited about it.

They’re not quite there yet, but this is a good indication of what so many geeks have been concered about with Google. I’m a huge fan of Google – I use Google services on a daily basis as a routine part of my day-to-day life every day: Gmail from Google, Google Calendars, Google Maps, Google Chat, Google Spreadsheets, Google Docs, Google Analytics, Feedburner from Google, Google Image search, Youtube from Google, Google Reader, Picasa from Google, Google Webmaster Tools… I’m sure I use more than that, but those are what I could rattle off without putting much thought into it.

Ever asked why Google offers so much cool stuff for free? They’re telling us now. Sure lots of us have known what’s going on behind the scenes for a long time, but as far as I know, this is the most blatant example of Big Brother Google and their quest for world domination to date. Google announced yesterday that they’re “Making Ads More Interesting“. That’s their nice way of saying “We’ve been tracking your every move for years & it’s time… Now we’re gonna start making money off what we know about you”.

I’m the guy that stays logged into my gmail account all the time. I also use my Google Toolbar search box for just about every search so whether I’m logged in or not, they’ve still got their eyes on what I’m doing. Now they’re going to start displaying specific ads based on the types of web pages I visit throughout the Google content network. What’s the Google content network? Here’s a good start.

I’m not aware of any evil Google’s committed yet, but it’s just a matter of time. They’re on their way to absolute power and we all know, absolute power corrupts – absolutely. I feel like the frog in luke warm water.

Happy googlin.

The Monte is painting update got my attention.

He’s one of the few friends from high school that I’ve seen in person since I moved to MN. Is he the only one? Wow, I think he is. I think his main gig is playing for Madonna but he was touring with Prong and stopped by The Rock in Maplewood, MN. I went up there and hung out with him, Tommy Victor and Aaron Rossi. It was a good time, Monte was that guy in school that everybody liked – just an all around cool guy – so it was good seeing him again.

Been noticing lately how many friends (real friends) I’ve been running across on Facebook lately from Texas, USMC and MN. It’s good to see that I’m not the only one that got tired of MySpace and the stupid little nick names, lousy profile layouts that people think are so cute and all the rest of the distracting crap on there.

So I just swung by one of my favorite websites, alexa.com, to see how their traffic rankings are. Yay, Facebook is kickin ass, myspace is close to holding even and I threw youtube in there for grins.

Here’s the chart:

The Alexa traffic ranking shows MySpace as #3 in the US, but it shouldn’t be long and Facebook will be up there.

How bout this Santa? We had the family Christmas Eve gathering at our house this year. All in all, things went well. No fights with the in-laws, actually I don’t recall hearing any arguing at all – that makes two grief free holidays in a row. Let’s hope this is the beginning of a long trend. God knows the previous trend was really starting to wear on me.

I really enjoyed the Santa gig this year though. Stephanie grabbed me to see if I had any tape around. “Sure thing, I’ve got some electrical tape in my office, will that work?”

We walked back to my office and there Jackie was decked out in the Santa garb. They were having trouble with the eyebrows and needed some tape to keep them in place. I kept the chuckles to a minimum after Jackie asked if I wanted to be Santa this year. Thanks, but no thanks.

From years of different family members playing Santa on Christmas, most of the 13 kids know it’s not the “real” santa that shows up to hand out presents at these gatherings. Jackie did a great job with the ho ho’ing but forgot to take off her watch so she was busted.

I’ll get the video up one of these days. Until then, here are some pics:

Hope you had a Merry Christmas,
