Meebo – Live Chat on Your Blog/Website

Any time I see cool stuff on the internet, I usually try to figure out how to get it myself. Sometimes I keep em, sometimes I just check them out then dump em. I ran across Meebo yesterday and think it’s a keeper.

It’s on my Howdy page now if you want to see it in action.

I like the interface for the user, but my first impression was that it sucked because you have to be on their website to use it. Really? Think I’m going to stay logged into your website when I’m online and want to chat?

Made me think that sticking with the Google Chat option was the way to go. If I’m online, I’m logged into Gmail. Use it for txting, email, chat, file storage, notes to self, etc…

Then “Ah ha!”. The Firefox addon I ignored the first time I glanced at it jumped out at me again. [Plus 1 for using Firefox instead of the crappy IE.] Installed the Firefox addon, figured out how to use it so it’s not invasive, I’m pretty picky about how things look and feel on my computer, and walah, works like a champ. I’ve only been using it a day but so far it’s got my vote. Check it out and say hi. Then leave a comment below to let me know your thoughts.

Talk soon,
Jason Massengale
